The initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric and substance use disorder evaluation. Dr. Goldenberg seeks to understand your history of symptoms, history of past treatment, family, social and medical history and your current functioning and goals. Through a thorough biological, psychological, social and sometimes spiritual lens, he seeks to help you better under the underlying conditions, environmental and behavioral factors that are contributing to mental health and/or addiction signs and symptoms.
With a proper diagnosis or diagnoses, a treatment plan is discussed and proposed. Dr. Goldenberg’s patients often find a combination of medication, therapy and/or behavioral interventions are optimized and customized to help them achieve their goals and improve their mental health and wellness. Dr. Goldenberg is able to provide referrals to top experts including therapists who can provide evidence-based psychotherapy including CBT, ERP, DBT, EMDR, Mindfulness, Trauma therapy, and other modalities. Dr. Goldenberg is also well versed in AA, Refuge For Recovery, Dharma Recovery and SMART recovery and can provide recommendations and insight and facilitated recovery.
Follow up appointments are scheduled around a patient’s specific treatment goals and the frequency is based on progress toward goals. Dr. Goldenberg is HIMS trained and also provides psychiatric evaluations for pilots and air traffic controllers (ATC) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
