About Dr. Matthew Goldenberg:

Matthew Goldenberg D.O. is double Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO). Dr. Goldenberg is an expert psychiatrist providing cutting edge and evidence-based evaluations and treatment of mental health disorders and addiction. His private practice is based in Santa Monica, California and he is licensed to provide care to patients from all over California, Alaska, Hawaii and Utah by secure telehealth.

Dr. Goldenberg is a nationally recognized and highly experienced HIMS trained aviation psychiatrist. He evaluates pilots and air traffic controllers (ATC) from across the U.S. for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) who have mental health and/or substance abuse/dependence related concerns. Dr. Goldenberg is also a sought-after physician-health expert, providing mental health and substance use disorder evaluations and expert testimony for healthcare providers, and other safety sensitive workers, who are engaged in administrative and/or legal proceedings.

In addition to a vibrant private practice, Dr. Goldenberg has provided addiction psychiatry consultations to some of the nation’s top residential and outpatient addiction and mental health treatment programs.

Dr. Goldenberg is also an author, researcher and invited speaker at local and national conferences. He volunteered as a member of the Osteopathic Medical Board of California’s Diversion Evaluation Committee (DEC), assisting physicians with potential impairment, while helping to maintain public safety. He has also previously volunteered his time as Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA and previously served as an associate professor of psychiatry at Cedar Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Goldenberg is currently a board member, and a past-president, of the Southern California Psychiatric Society (SCPS), a current member of the Assembly of the American Psychiatric Association, a past board member of the California State Association of Psychiatrists (CSAP), a current board member of the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM), and is a board member and past Chairman of California Public Protection and Physician Health (CPPPH).

Dr. Goldenberg completed an Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship through UCLA, in Los Angeles, California, and Psychiatry Residency at Banner University Medical Center of the University of Arizona, in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Goldenberg completed medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, and is a native of Los Angeles.
